Going for a swim in your own pool can be a wonderful summer treat! However, you always want to make sure that treat doesn’t turn terrible. Maintaining a good water balance is crucial for keeping your pool clean, clear and ready for a dip anytime. The task says it right in the name – good water balance is a bit of a balancing act. For example, if the chlorine level is too high it can cause eye and skin irritation. No one wants to go for a swim that causes physical discomfort.
McBurney Pools and Spas has you totally covered! From the products you will need to the man power to help you – McBurney wants to ensure maintaining your water balance is simple and straightforward. Here are some basic tips for the next time you need to balance your pool water.
- Test your pool water 2 – 3 times a week. If chemicals in your pool are out of balance you may encounter problems: cloudy water, excessive algae, scaly deposits, or (as mentioned before) skin irritations. It’s easier to check your water more frequently and make minor adjustments instead of waiting until the pool water is completely unbalanced and may require more extensive fixes.
- When adding chemicals to your pool, pre-dissolving chemicals in a bucket of water then pouring your solution into the pool while keeping your pump running continuously during the summer months will ensure an even and effective distribution of chemicals into your pool.
- Add chemicals to your pool one at a time. Allow time for each chemical to dissolve and disperse throughout your pool.
