While it’s never fun to add to the seemingly endless list of household chores that need to be done on a weekly basis, pool maintenance is an essential part of keeping your pool clean and in proper shape for swimming and hosting pool parties.
Skim Off Leaves And Debris
Use a leaf skimmer to remove light debris like leaves, insects, and small twigs floating on your pool’s surface. Skimming should be done once a day. If left for multiple days, the debris can sink to the bottom of the pool, making clean-up more difficult and time-consuming.
Check/Clean Your Pool Filter
Once a week, you should check your pool filter and remove any debris that has built up. Also, make sure to clean your filter according to the manufacturer’s directions; sand filters, cartridge filters, or diatomaceous earth (DE) filters are the most commonly used filters.Â
Test Your Pool Water Regularly.Â
Testing your pool water is essential in keeping the chemical contents of your pool at the right level. Typically this means testing chlorine/bromine levels, pH levels, alkalinity, and calcium hardness. You can do the tests yourself with test strips or bring a water sample to our store, and we’ll perform the water test for you!
