Although it may not feel like it, summer is on it’s way! A time for fun, sun and swimming. You may even be dreaming about getting a pool. An inground pool can be expensive and a require a good deal of upkeep. The solution to the hassle may just be an above ground pool! They’re far less expensive, moveable, can be dismantled and reassembled, and do not need nearly as much care. You can be having a splash-tastic summer without all of the fuss and expense!
Above ground pools can come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. This can be a difference in aesthetics like size and style or down to the materials used to build it. Two of the most common materials used to build above ground pools are steel and resin. Each option has its own benefits and draw backs. Below is a list of pros and cons associated with each type of material that will help you decide which option is right for you and your family!
Steel
Pros:
- Steel is the strongest material for an above ground pool
- Steel is least likely to warp or change shape over the years
- Steel is one of (if not the) cheapest material to use
Cons:
- It is possible for steel to rust more quickly than other materials
- Steel is one of the heaviest materials to use in your pool, so it may be more difficult to change up the location of your pool once it’s been constructed
Resin
Pros:
- With resin you don’t have to worry about rust
- Resin pools typically have the longest lifespan of any above ground pool
- Resin is lighter, which makes your above ground pool quicker and easier to install and also easier to dismantle and move around
Cons:
- Resin tends to be a more expensive material to build with
- Some areas of the pool may experience cracking or flaking when exposed to extreme cold or harsh and extended UV exposure
Whether made from steel or resin, above ground pools are a fantastic and affordable way to bring the fun of summer right into your own backyard!
